The content is information, not professional advice
Everything here is general information about technology, cybersecurity, AI, and running a business. It's based on my experience, but it isn't professional advice for your situation, whether IT, security, legal, financial, compliance, or anything else. Reading the site, subscribing, or emailing me doesn't create a consulting, advisory, or client relationship with me or with QIT Solutions.
Technology, pricing, licensing, and regulations change quickly, and an article may be out of date by the time you read it. Check current vendor documentation and get qualified advice before you make decisions that matter, such as security configurations, purchases, contracts, or policies. You're responsible for how you use what you read here.
Accounts
- You can create a free account with an email address. You must be at least 16 to create an account and at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to buy a paid membership.
- You sign in with a link sent to your email, so anyone with access to your inbox can access your account. Keep your email account secure and your address up to date.
- Accounts are for one person. Don't share sign-in links or paid access with others.
Paid memberships
If you buy a paid membership:
- Billing: you're billed in advance, monthly or yearly depending on the plan you choose. Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are shown before you pay, and applicable taxes may be added.
- Renewal: your membership renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel.
- Cancelling: you can cancel at any time from your account. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for, and you won't be charged again.
- Refunds: payments aren't refunded for partial periods, except where the law requires it. If something went wrong, email me and I'll make it right.
- Price changes: I'll email you at least 30 days before a price change affects you. It takes effect at your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.
- What's included: I may add, change, or retire resources over time. If I discontinue paid memberships, I'll refund the unused part of your current period.
If you're a consumer in the EEA or the UK, you may have a 14-day right to withdraw from a purchase. By starting to use paid content during that period, you agree that it can be provided immediately and acknowledge that you lose the right to withdraw once it has been.
Resource library and downloads
Templates, checklists, frameworks, calculators, and other downloads are licensed to you, not sold. Unless a resource says otherwise, you may:
- use and adapt them inside your own organization;
- share them with colleagues in that organization.
You may not sell them, republish them publicly, include them in a product or paid service, or share paid resources outside your organization. If you'd like to use a resource with your own clients, email me. I'm usually happy to say yes.
Copyright and quoting
The articles, newsletters, resources, images, and design of this site are owned by Jess Coburn or used under license, and are protected by copyright. You're welcome to:
- quote short excerpts with credit and a link to the original article;
- share links to any page.
Please don't republish whole articles or substantial portions without permission.
Search engines and AI answer engines are welcome to index, summarize, and cite this site with a link back. Copying content in bulk to build datasets or to train AI models requires my written permission.
The book The AI Owner's Manual is protected by copyright, and its terms of sale are set by the retailer you buy it from.
Acceptable use
When using the site, don't:
- try to gain unauthorized access to the site, its systems, or other people's accounts;
- interfere with the site's operation, including through attacks or automated traffic that degrades performance;
- scrape or copy content in bulk except as allowed above;
- sign up other people without their permission or use fake or disposable addresses to abuse the newsletter or memberships;
- use the site for anything unlawful.
Book purchases and bulk orders
Individual copies of the book are sold through Amazon and other retailers under their own terms. Bulk orders are arranged by email. The quote and invoice I send you set the price, quantities, shipping, and payment terms for that order.
Links to other sites
Articles link to vendors, tools, and other sites. I don't control those sites and I'm not responsible for their content, products, or privacy practices. A link isn't an endorsement unless I say it is.
Disclaimer
The site and everything on it are provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, I disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. I don't guarantee that the site will always be available or free of errors.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, I'm not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or business, arising from your use of the site or its content, even if I've been told such damages are possible. My total liability for any claim relating to the site is limited to the amount you paid me in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50 if you haven't paid anything.
Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer under the mandatory laws of the country you live in.
Indemnity
If you use the site in breach of these terms or the law and that leads to a claim against me, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of that claim, to the extent the law allows.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using the site and delete your account at any time. I may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. If I close a paid account for reasons other than a breach, I'll refund the unused part of the current period.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Palm Beach County, Florida. If you're a consumer living outside the US, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and may bring claims in your local courts.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change, I'll update the date at the top. If a change materially affects members, I'll email you before it takes effect. Continuing to use the site after that means you accept the updated terms.
General
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If I don't enforce a term right away, that doesn't mean I've waived it. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between us about the site.
