1. Transparency
Can you explain to a customer, regulator, or journalist how your AI system makes decisions? If not, you're not ready to deploy it in production.
2. Accountability
When an AI system makes a wrong decision — and it will — who is responsible? This needs to be a named person with actual authority, not a committee.
3. Fairness
Have you tested your system for bias across the dimensions that matter for your use case? Fairness isn't a one-time audit. It's an ongoing monitoring practice.
4. Security
AI systems introduce novel attack surfaces — adversarial inputs, data poisoning, model extraction. Your security team needs to be involved from day one.
The goal isn't to slow down AI adoption. It's to adopt AI in a way that's sustainable and defensible.
